Methodist meetings were first held in this area in the early 1870s after the sinking of a pit shaft at Esh New Winning in 1865. The present church was built in 1932 following the union of the local Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist Societies.
It is a substantial building and was a remarkable achievement at a time of depression and considerable local hardship. A wide variety of groups have gathered and dissolved over the years; at one time the church even had its own tennis courts!
Sunday Worship is at 10.30 am at Brandon Methodist Church
