Theses and dissertations

Published research on Methodism

Methodism has been the subject of doctoral research by quite a few scholars. Many major pieces of work begin life as doctoral theses.

The Methodist Archives and Research Centre have a collection of theses on Methodism, and these are listed here www.library.manchester.ac.uk/search-resources/guide-to-special-collections/methodist/theses-collection/

The Manchester Wesley Research Centre have also collected copies of relevant theses and dissertations and have produced an annotated guide http://static1.1.sqspcdn.com/static/f/151583/26928320/1458575237187/March+2016+-+PhD+MPhil+MA+Theses+Catalogue-+KY+correction.pdf

If the thesis was submitted in this country for a Ph.D. it is likely that the British Library will be able to provide you with an electronic copy through a service called EThOS (Electronic Theses Online Service). Please go to this website http://ethos.bl.uk/Home.do and follow the instructions. You can search without payment. If you wish to download a thesis you will need to register, but that is easy to do and the thesis will usually be free to download. In some cases you will find that the University holding the thesis has made it freely available on its own website, so will not need to register with EThOS in order to gain access.
